Magen David Adom is a non-political, not-for-profit humanitarian organisation that depends on supporters from across the world to save more lives.

Christian Friends of Magen David Adom South Africa (CFMDA SA)

What is Magen David Adom?

Magen David Adom - The Red Shield of David - is the Israeli equivalent of the British Red Cross. It is an a-political, non-sectarian organisation which is Israel's only emergency service. It is particularly active in wartime and during suicide bombings when it treats the injured indiscriminately, regardless of faith or nationality.

Who is CFMDA SA?

Christian Friends of Magen David Adom SA (CFMDA) is an affiliate to MDA SA. It was founded by Christians whose faith and theology leads them to stand with Israel in obedience to God.

How did CFMDA SA come about?

At a "chance" meeting with Mark and Beulah Heyman, two devoted workers to the cause of MDA, a Christian shared her vision of South African Christians helping Israel in practical ways. The vision entails to build positive relations between Christians and Jewish people through practical acts of support towards Israel. The couple suggested that a first step in this direction would be to launch  Chrisitian Friends of Magen David Adom SA.

What are CFMDA's aims?

  1. 1.  To create awareness amongst Christians in South Africa of MDA and to raise support for MDA in those circles.
  2. 2.  To demonstrate God's love toward Israel and the Jewish people in a practical manner. Through this 'good work' the CFMDA group wants to alter the perceptions of Christians and the Christian faith and demonstrate that everyone can work together.
